Duluth Parks Master Plan
Duluth, GA
Sizemore Group, in partnership with Foresite Group, developed a Parks and Recreation Strategic Master Plan Update to guide priority decision-making for operations, maintenance, and capital improvements over the next ten years. Working closely with City Park and Recreation staff, the team analyzed and developed strategies for park growth, facility needs, trail expansion, programming and activities, park operations, maintenance needs/costs, and future capital improvement projects focused on three specific parks – Scott Hudgens Park,
Rogers Bridge Park and Church Street Park.
Key to parks’ programming and capital improvement project recommendations was community engagement. To gain a broad range of park users input, in addition to community surveys and stakeholder interviews, the team went to the parks at high use times – during Food Truck Friday and during high evening use at the Bunten Road Park Community Center (with pizza provided). The result was a community and stakeholder supported Parks and Recreation Strategic Master Plan with short term and long term implementation
steps.
