Project Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Project Scope: 4,800,000 sf
Completion Date: 1999
Located in Downtown Atlanta, this institution faced the challenge of how to blend into the downtown infrastructure and culture while maintaining the identity of a ’first class’ university campus. At the core of the scope was the need to address aging facilities and to determine how to evaluate future property acquisition/disposition. Overall, the study covered 48 buildings on the main campus and four remote sites. The proposed Master Plan solution focuses on reinforcing the pedestrian environment of downtown Atlanta while consolidating key functions. In order to provide identify, the street scape was redeveloped in coordination with the City of Atlanta. A key feature was developing Decatur Street as the “Main Street”.
