The Medline LCI study area totals 520 acres in unincorporated DeKalb County, and is characterized by major regional corridors flanked by commercial and vacant properties.
This study seeks to develop a model Wellness District, which enhances the long term economic viability of the area, building on the medical and ethnic/cultural markets, while creating healthy, well-connected spaces from under utilized land, streets, and streams.
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT:
Public engagement strategies included a half day design workshop at a local Indian restaurant, the Cultural Center, Tactical Urbanism Demonstrations to show public greenspace – recreation and performance sizes, and a bike ride to show new bike connectivity recommendations.
