Clark Atlanta University Master Plan and Update
Project Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Project Scope: 4,800,000 sf
Completion Date: 2005; 2010 updated
Located in Downtown Atlanta, Clark Atlanta University faces the challenges of most urban institutions: boundaries that are not contiguous, limited open land as well as aging facilities and infrastructure. It has key opportunities such as access to mass transportation and collaborations with surrounding institutions of the Atlanta University Center.
The proposed solution focused on developing “infill” sites in order to accommodate future academics, student services, assembly and residential needs. Key implementation strategy adopted by the institution is an aggressive renovation program and a complete overhaul of their central plant. The scope of work includes:
- Environmental scan
- Academic, administration & student program assessment
- Facilities & infrastructure assessment
- An implementation plan that develops/ focuses on funding through alternative sources and available by working with City, special planning districts and other institutions or companies
